Neerja Bhanot was born on March 5, 1963, in Chandigarh, India. She began her career as a flight attendant with Pan Am in 1985 and was just 23 years old when she boarded Flight 103 as a lead flight attendant. On that day, the plane took off from Frankfurt, Germany, bound for New York City, but was hijacked by four terrorists.
