Before altering any firmware, back up your vehicle's factory programming. Open FORScan and click the icon at the bottom left. Turn the vehicle ignition to ON (Engine OFF).

If an update is available, you will see the "Available" filenames listed next to your "Current" filenames.

If an update is available, FORScan will clearly display this information. Do not attempt to flash firmware that FORScan does not recommend for your specific model, year, and engine configuration—this is a recipe for disaster.

Clear any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) that were generated during the flashing process by going to the screen and clicking Reset .

Many experienced users report that FDRS is actually more user-intuitive than FORScan once you understand its interface, but the cost difference is staggering. Others note that FORScan sometimes succeeds where FDRS fails—in some documented cases, FORScan was able to flash modules successfully after FDRS repeatedly failed.
