The Canadian edition, adapted from the hit UK series (itself a spin on The Great British Bake Off format), was officially announced in June 2023 as part of CBC’s upcoming slate. The project gained significant star power almost immediately, with actor, writer, and amateur potter Seth Rogen —a well-known ceramics enthusiast—signing on not only to appear as a guest judge but also to serve as an executive producer through his company Point Grey Pictures. The hosting duties were given to Jennifer Robertson , beloved for her comedic roles in Schitt’s Creek and Ginny & Georgia .
