The film begins with Connie and Edward's seemingly perfect marriage. However, Connie starts to feel suffocated and unfulfilled, leading her to have an affair with a charming French artist, Paul Martel (played by Olivier Martinez). As Connie becomes more and more involved with Paul, she starts to neglect her marriage and her relationships with her loved ones.
