But the film refuses to make Guy a hero or Grug a buffoon. When Guy’s cleverness fails (and it often does), it is Grug’s brute strength that saves the day. Conversely, when Grug’s strength is useless against a collapsing mountain, it is Guy’s fire that illuminates the path. The resolution is not about one winning. It’s about synergy.
