With the older version removed, I went back to the Unity editor and clicked on "Window" > "Package Manager". I then clicked on the "+" button in the top left corner and selected "Add package from git URL". I entered the URL for the PlayerAnimator package and waited for Unity to download and install version 1.9.0.
