The story then shifts to Thor being imprisoned on the planet Sakaar, ruled by the Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum). Thor soon discovers that Sakaar is a contest-like planet where gladiators fight for the entertainment of the Grandmaster and his people. Thor befriends the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), who has been stuck on Sakaar for years, and together they plan their escape.
