En marzo de 2024, en la , "El niño y la garza" se alzó con el premio a Mejor Película de Animación . En una categoría de ensueño que incluía a gigantes como "Spider-Man: Cruzando el Multiverso" y "Elemental" de Pixar, la cinta japonesa se llevó la estatuilla.
